'Swimming Stingrays' Just before my grandmothers funeral, my father and uncle took me spearing out in the boat for fish, turtle and crab. As we were heading out from the mouth of the Annan in Cooktown, I noticed some giant stingrays following the boat out. There was two stingrays, then one more, then back to two. I feel they were animal spirits of family that have passed, providing passage for a fruitful time. There was very much rain but our catch weighed heavier, including a giant trevally.
