Growing up in Cooktown, I spent weekdays going to school and weekends going out bush; watching elders hunt, paint, create and cook. These fond memories stayed close while at boarding school in Brisbane, and throughout the years following graduation trying to find stable footing. I realise themes of belonging and spiritual nurture are abundant across my work, from efforts to sustain my cultural connection away from country.  

 

 I returned home in 2021, with a warm welcome attending the biannual Quinkan Laura Dance Festival and privately selling several works since. My work are parts of my memory, self, culture and life, and are vehicles of truth-telling and lived experience from the perspective of an Aboriginal artist.
